Facts about Sonje Yo
Sonje Yo is a Haitian Creole term which means Remember Them.
Sonje Yo was founded by Superior Court Ambassador Esai O, Ambo in 2005.
The idea infected many people from all walks of life: average citizens and professionals- educators, students, lawyers, doctors, law makers, religious leaders, etc… now, we are working on a common goal to promote human rights and enhance the lives of the most vulnerable groups.
Sonje Yo, INC. is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit non-governmental human rights organization; incorporated and licensed in the state of Georgia (USA). Our Head-Quarters are located in Atlanta, GA with a second office in Haiti.
Sonje Yo has a projected six year budget of 4.5 million dollars.
Sonje Yo believes that defending human rights does not come with a special blue print. It is simply an understanding of the moral obligation to humanity. Anyone could do it, but only a few have the courage to do so.
“Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
